The Engineering Manager establishes the overall objectives and initiatives for the manufacturing engineering and automation departments. Develops ideas for new systems or process enhancements and oversees the creation and improvement of labor aiding systems to enhance safety, quality and output. This role provides engineering expertise to other departments where required. Aligns the corporate vision and strategy to the daily direction and focus. Executes multiple high impact initiatives to achieve overall corporate goals with resource allocation, and project management.
Essential Functions
- Create a Vision that is aligned with the company’s goals for safety, quality, delivery, cost and inventory. Lead the team with the vision in mind to create a world class and transformational manufacturing and automation engineering team.
- Develop innovation that revolutionize the way we do things in our manufacturing processes while involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
- Leading the teams towards successful completion of all projects while ensuring resource availability and allocation.
- Coordinating internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
- Maintaining comprehensive project documentation, measuring project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.
- Performing risk management to minimize project risks.
- Support entire IWT network and ensure we are prioritizing with the larger organization in mind.
Daily Tasks and Duties
- Managing the recruitment, training, and development of staff.
- Conducting performance reviews and setting objectives for team members.
- Facilitating regular team meetings to discuss project hurdles and progress.
- Ensuring all engineering practices adhere to standards and regulations.
- Collaborating with other department heads to ensure alignment of company goals, essentially bridging the gap between technical and non-technical members of the organization
Education And Certification Requirements
To qualify for a position as an Engineering Manager in the Manufacturing industry, candidates need to possess a solid educational foundation and relevant certifications.
These Requirements Include
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field. Master’s or other advanced degrees are often preferred.
- Proven experience as an engineer and in a leadership role.
- Certifications pertinent to the Manufacturing industry may be required depending on the specific focus of the organization. Project management certifications such as PMP or equivalent can be an added advantage.
This role demands a proven leader with not only technical skills but also strong organizational and communication skills. An effective Engineering Manager must be able to motivate, guide, and inspire teams to achieve top performance and meet their goals. They must also be adept in negotiating, strategic planning, and have a strong problem-solving capability.
