Job Title: Director of Engineering
Location: Remote - 20% travel to Philadelphia

Job Summary:
Currently working with a chemical manufacturing client to fill a Director of Engineering role who would be overseeing the Engineering department at their facility in Philadelphia, as well as having insight across North America operations. This role is responsible for overseeing a team of 25 engineers, driving engineering projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and optimizing plant operations. The Director of Engineering will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance production efficiency, improve safety protocols, and foster innovation in our manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 25 engineers, including process, mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineers.
- Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability within the engineering team.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects, ensuring they are on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
- Coordinate with other departments (Operations, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, etc.) to align project objectives with overall business goals.
- Manage project risks, resolve technical challenges, and ensure all projects comply with regulatory and safety requirements.
- Identify opportunities to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce costs, and increase production efficiency.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and best practices to enhance plant performance.
- Lead initiatives to improve equipment reliability, product quality, and energy efficiency.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, equipment, and processes to enhance the facility’s capabilities.
- Prepare and manage the engineering department’s budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
- A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing or related industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in managing large engineering teams and complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes, equipment, and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in engineering software and tools used in the chemical manufacturing industry.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and industry standards.
