General PurposeManages a geographic territory, region, location or cross-functional unit, which has a major impact on corporate, business unit, or organizational objectives. Establishes strategic business objectives, strategies, and plans in support of Company strategic goals. Manages and allocates financial and employee resources. Specifically, this position will provide overall direction to the plant operations and/or maintenance teams in order to ensure the fulfillment of the assigned plant’s mission. This position primarily oversees the operation and/or maintenance function at a generating facility and may oversee multiple plants.
Responsibilities- Provide overall direction and leadership to the operations and/or maintenance team in order to ensure the fulfillment of the assigned plant’s mission.
- This role may oversee multiple plants.
- Responsible for the development and execution of the operations and/or maintenance activities required to achieve assigned plant’s goals.
- When applicable if overseeing multiple plants create a culture that allows sharing of resources and technology between plants and company.
- Identify and recommend the resources required to achieve the plant’s mission and monitor utilization against the plan to ensure achievement of cost targets.
- Ensure that the operations and/or maintenance activities are conducted in a safe manner and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement accurate budgets based on departmental and business unit plans; control expenditures within budgeted levels to support those plans.
- Monitor the execution of the operations and/or maintenance plans against established goals and targets.
- Respond to system conditions as requested by system dispatch to support continuity of service.
- Work with various groups both on-and off-site to ensure fulfillment of plant’s mission.
- Responsible for selecting, coaching, and developing employees in accordance with company talent management and succession planning processes.
- Review and evaluate employee performance and prepare annual reviews.
Requirements- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of ten years of power or process plant experience.
- A minimum of five years direct people management experience.
- Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently.
- Ability to work with technical, operations, maintenance and business groups both within and outside the plant to achieve the unit’s mission.
- Communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to manage and motivate employees, use oral and written communication to create a vision, communicate strategy, and effectively interface with other Company leaders.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Working knowledge of applicable labor relations agreements, including union working agreement provisions and administration
