Role Title: Technical Writer-Model Development

Role Description:
The Technical Writer will work closely with our model developers to produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation and user manuals, translating complex statistical and quantitative information into a standardized format for various models (CCAR/ACL/Underwriting/PPNR/Liquidity/etc).
This role involves extensive collaboration with model developers, subject matter experts, reviewers, and teams from implementation, production, and business sectors, across diverse financial products and modeling techniques, to ensure accuracy and clarity in documentation. Responsibilities include interpreting data analysis, technical specifications, statistical methods, business use cases, regulatory guidelines, and internal controls to ensure top-quality technical documentation. Additionally, the Technical Writer will lead training sessions for employees on standard documentation practices.
Responsibilities:
- Research, organize, and interpret technical information to create and maintain various types of documentation, including model development documentation, user manuals, installation guides, release notes, and code documentation.
- Collaborate with developers, subject matter experts, and business colleagues to gather information and understand technical concepts.
- Write and edit clear, concise content that meets the target audience's needs, adhering to style guidelines and documentation standards.
- Interview subject matter experts and technical staff to collect information, prepare written text, and coordinate layout and material organization.
- Develop and maintain specific templates for documentation sections (data wrangling, model methodology, testing, segmentation, outcomes analysis, etc.), style guides, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality.
- Conduct effective training sessions on documentation standards for model developers and business teams.
- Review and update existing documentation to ensure clarity, conciseness, and user-friendliness.
- Ensure proper archiving of older model documents and adherence to relevant policies, procedures, and controls.
- Prepare a biannual Finance Model Development newsletter.
- Stay current with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in technical writing.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of experience, or Associate's degree and at least 9 years of experience in accounting, auditing, operations, or financial institutions.
- Broad and comprehensive understanding of finance and accounting theories and practices within the commercial banking industry.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts/theory and their relation to profitability reporting.
- Strong technical writing experience working for any model dev in the banking industry
- Excellent writing and editing skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of the model development process and statistics/quantitative disciplines.
- Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of software development processes, agile methodologies, and version control systems.
