Overview:
Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN supporting development of advanced airborne systems including podded communication link and sensor systems, airborne armament equipment, alternate mission equipment, cockpit displays, avionics, and radar systems. Additionally, this role will support the integration of new and existing systems onto airborne, shipborne, and ground vehicles.
Duties:
- Responsible for the design of new products and test hardware, as well as the improvement of existing products. The engineer will utilize their mechanical engineering expertise during the proposal and concept evaluation, product development, production, and qualification testing phases of new product design.
- The engineer will create design solutions that meet product requirements using 3-D CAD modeling software and will be hands-on supporting production, integration, and testing. The engineer will develop solutions which leverage commercial off the shelf (COTS) products paired with custom hardware.
- The engineer will provide leadership on mechanical issues to the project team, working closely with systems, electrical, and test engineers. In addition to their technical skills, the ideal candidate leverages strong verbal and written communication to adapt to a wide variety of high-pressure situations while maintaining professionalism and courtesy.

Qualifications:
- A minimum of fifteen years professional work experience required.
- Experience in the design, integration, or testing of mechanical components and assemblies.
- Competent using 3-D CAD Modeling Tools (CREO preferred).
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, (ASME Y14.5 standards).
- Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to be adaptable to changing priorities and assignments.
- Experience capturing key characteristics & requirements for systems.
- Must be a self-starter, a quick learner, and be able to function in a dynamic environment, and have good time management skills.
- Must have strong teaming skills, and good communication skills.
- Expect at one or more of Aircraft Structures Design, Ground Structures Design, Electronics Packaging, or Platform Integration.
