Position Overview
CRH Group Corporate Events are expanding their team and seeking candidates for the position of Senior Event Operations Manager based in the US. If you have exceptional attention to detail and are highly organized, with proven ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, then this role is for you. The majority of the existing team are based in Europe, meaning the successful candidate will need to work independently and proactively on a day-to-day basis, with additional support from colleagues for on-site event delivery as required. If successful, you will be working across a broad spectrum of projects in terms of scale, format & location, with the opportunity for extensive national & some international travel.
Job Responsibilities
The role is highly detail-orientated, involving project management and practical execution of events from inception to reconciliation, collaborating with Events Team colleagues, functional leadership, senior management and third-party vendors to deliver consistently exceptional events.
The role covers the management of all aspects of event planning and delivery. Combining office- based planning and on-site management & execution, the successful candidate will including, but not limited to:
Venue sourcing & management:
- Conduct research (venues, DMC’s, production agencies etc), develop local networks of suppliers and negotiate contracts to final approval
- Conduct frequent site visits, with extensive national & some international travel required
Event design, theming and production:
- Manage all third-party suppliers to ensure a coordinated and efficient approach to each event program
- Create, maintain and communicate detailed project management documentation to ensure excellence in execution
- Have an awareness of planning for Health & Safety and ensure relevant parties deliver on their responsibilities in this area
- Key liaison with business colleagues regarding content
Integration of remote technology for hybrid and/or virtual projects:
- Establish event design, production & IT requirements and determine the most appropriate means of delivery (i.e. in-house AV supplier, production company etc)
Food & beverage management:
- Devise and manage food & beverage arrangements
Transportation & logistics:
- Create and manage transportation and rooming manifests
Digital operational systems: e.g. online registration, CRH Events app
Budgeting, cost control and deadline management:
- Manage and meet internal and external deadlines to ensure adherence to budget from initial cost estimate through to final project reconciliation
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will be:
- Highly motivated and able to work in a demanding and fast-paced environment
- Extremely organized and detail-orientated, results driven and have a significant focus on execution excellence
- Commercially aware and able to work within budget and proactively manage the financial aspects of each event
- Instils trust and builds good working relationships with flexibility and adaptability to liaise with all levels in the organization and across different functional areas and cultures
- Pro-active self-starter who approaches challenges calmly and logically
- Team player, often cross-disciplinary, with excellent people skills while also being comfortable working remotely
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate clearly and effectively using PowerPoint, WORD, Email, Excel etc
- Able to manage their time efficiently, in order to execute multiple events at once or in rapid succession
- Ability to coach and mentor others working on their projects
- Highly mobile and available for extensive travel
- Readily available as necessary on the lead-up to events and prepared to work anti-social hours from time-to-time when projects demand
Experience/Education
Essential
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in delivering national and ideally international corporate events, particularly in logistics roles (hotel management, F&B, transportation, delegate management)
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office and related collaboration tools
Preferred
- Formal qualification in Event Management, Project Management or a similar field
- Knowledge of event production - scenic, AV, branding etc
- Experienced in Cvent, Eventogy or other similar online registration tools
