Fairfield County MSP is seeking a seasoned Network Engineer to join their team. This individual will be instrumental in designing and deploying large-scale network solutions, including the management of networks, layer 2/3 switches, routers, firewalls, and OSPF/BGP protocols. The role is client-facing and offers opportunities for growth.
Core Responsibilities:
Network Defense:
Analyze LAN/WAN infrastructure to identify vulnerabilities and potential security risks, playing a pivotal role in fortifying our clients' networks against cyber threats and ensuring seamless connectivity.
Determine root causes of network issues and devise effective solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement security measures.
Technical Expertise:
OSI Model Mastery: Understand every layer of the OSI model.
Switch Configuration: Proficient in configuring Layer 2/3 switches (especially Cisco non-SMB) via CLI.
Routing Knowledge: Advanced understanding of dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and static routing.
High Availability Protocols: Knowledge of HSRP, VRRP, and others.
Multi-Site Networks: Design and operate robust multi-site LAN/WAN networks.
Virtualization Skills: VMWare vSwitch configuration.
WAN Transport: Familiarity with MPLS, VPLS, and WAN solutions.
Wireless Expertise:
Controller-Based WLAN: Design and deploy enterprise-grade wireless systems
(802.11) with 802.1x authentication. Experience with Cisco/Meraki and Ruckus Wireless is preferred.
Firewall Knowledge:
Enterprise Platforms: Proficient with Fortinet, PaloAlto, and Cisco ASA firewalls.
IPS/IDS Understanding: Knowledge of Intrusion prevention/detection systems
(SourceFire/Snort, PaloAlto).
SSL VPN Familiarity: Working knowledge of SSL VPN platforms.
Server Skills:
Microsoft & VMWare: Good to advanced understanding of enterprise-level server
platforms.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on LAN/WAN Networking and Security
experience.
Certifications (Preferred): Cisco-related: CCNA-Security, CCNP, or CCIE.
