Overview:
We are seeking a Control System Engineer to join our team. As a DCS/PLC Engineer, you will be instrumental in the design, commissioning, and management of control systems and process control networks. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work with advanced technology and lead continuous improvement initiatives across multiple sites.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the Controls Systems team to ensure operational readiness at sites.
- Proactively manage the controls production environment, implementing preventive measures to prevent impactful incidents.
- Implement logic modifications to improve plant reliability and minimize downtime, ensuring changes are controlled and risk-assessed.
- Provide guidance to operations and technical staff on control strategies and principles.
- Develop and deploy process control algorithms, prototypes, and integrate them effectively.
- Plan, design, and execute the development, implementation, and upkeep of Basic Process Control and Process Optimization.
- Strategize a long-term roadmap to standardize control systems across over 20 sites.
- Establish and monitor objectives, reporting requirements, key performance indicators, and dashboards for control system health.
- Offer remote support for client sites, ensuring timely resolution of control system performance issues.
- Collaborate with automation vendors to define, design, and commission new and upgraded control and SIS systems.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts in control system infrastructure, including projects to modernize and advance DCS platforms.
- Develop enterprise-level solutions for process historians to streamline data flow and eliminate silos.
- Oversee the reliability and maintenance of DCS/SIS hardware and software.
- Design systems for maintaining backups of critical infrastructure.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Automation, or Instrumentation preferred).
- 8-10 years of experience in controls engineering preferred.
- Proficiency in FactoryTalk (software), Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLCs (hardware), networking, and Wonderware.
- Preferred Skills include Canary Historian, DeltaV, ABB, Siemens, AMS, OSI PI, Aspen, SCADA, SIS, and Instrumentation specification.
- Ability to quickly learn and stay current with technological advancements.
- Experience with metrics-driven approaches and familiarity with IBP (Integrated Business Planning).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across all organizational levels.
- Must be physically capable of performing facility surveys involving bending, stooping, and climbing.
- Up to 20% travel may be required, in addition to other job-specific demands.
