Overview:
Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) is a 50 year old multi-service not-for-profit
organization based on the settlement house model and located in the Bronx. We provide resources for Bronx residents from cradle to career to advance education and well-being for a vibrant community. KHCC serves over 5,000 families annually with an inclusive environment for children with special needs, low-income families, recent immigrants, survivors of sexual and domestic abuse, and at-risk teens. KHCC helps participants overcome adversity and develop the skills they need to build bright futures. The ESOL Program Assistant will be responsible for ESOL data management and program support including; waitlist outreach, screening, enrollment of participants as well as assisting the program leadership with general administrative work.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
● Assist with technical and administrative tasks, including outreach to prospective students from the waiting list, follow up/return calls, make appointments for screening, enrollment data entry in
DYCD database and other general administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, etc.
● Complete program enrollments including completion of registration packets, collection of
required documents, and completion of Individual Service Plans (ISPs) for all students
● Collect and enter class attendance in DYCD database on a daily basis
● Work with Instructors and leadership to monitor and follow up on student time and attendance
● Engage and retain students by developing supportive relationships.
● Serve as liaison between ESOL and KHCConnect regarding ESOL referral updates and USF
completion
● Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Physical Demands:
● While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit;
handle, or feel; talk, hear, smell or taste. On rare occasions it may be necessary to move quickly,
run, etc. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with
hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The
employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by
this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Schedule:
● 20 hours /week, aligned with ESOL class schedule as follows:
● M-F 9am-1pm OR M-Th 6pm-9pm and Saturday 9am-5pm
● This position is seasonal from September - June
