Description:
Promotes dental health by by completing periodontal maintenance and scaling and root planing; providing oral cancer screening and radiographic studies; charting conditions of decay and periodontal disease; performing procedures in compliance with dental practice acts.
Key Tasks:
1. Prepare treatment room for patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols
2. Prepare patient for hygiene appointments by welcoming, soothing, seating and draping patients
3. Maintain instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments
4. Complete periodontal maintenance and scaling/root planing procedures both supragingivally and subgingivally
5. Detect disease by completing oral cancer screening; feeling and visually examining gums, using probes to probe for pocket depths, assess levels of gingival recession, and being able to take radiographs
6. Fluoride application when necessary
7. Help dentist manage dental and medical emergencies when necessary
8. Educate patients with proper oral hygiene and home care
9. Document dental hygiene services in patients' electronic records
10. Maintain safe and clean working environment
11. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, networking and, and partaking in professional societies
12. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Required Qualifications:
1. Associates or Bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene
2. Current state license in good standing
3. Excellent verbal and communication skills
4. Basic understanding and knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA
5. Current CPR certification
6. Local anesthesia certification
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $50.00 - $70.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 - 24 per week
