Join our dynamic team at Veolia WTS as a Chemical Engineer specializing in Analytical Instruments Technology. Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the chemical engineering efforts as part of a cross functional team on new and existing instrumentation by engaging in project scoping efforts, coordinating activities and updates from other project team chemical engineers, and identifying risk mitigation options to achieve project goals
- Mentor junior team members by providing training, technical guidance, and subject matter expertise
- Provide technical guidance to other departments to support departmental or business initiatives
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines on hardware and software designs including the evaluation and implementation of new components and analytical methods
- Execute test plans using various analytical instrumentation and sensitive measuring equipment and constructing test fixtures as necessary
- Analyze data using sound statistical and engineering principles, summarize results, author quality test reports, and communicate conclusions effectively
- Create and maintain design documentation including models, calculations, process flow diagrams, and system/sub-system operations
- Effectively communicate the status and schedule of assigned activities to project and department managers.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to understand applications of Analytical Instruments within our chosen markets and importance of meeting product goals
- Ability to translate user needs into tangible design specifications. Develop new designs with the ability to identify and scope design, technical risk mitigation, and design verification activities
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to design & assemble test fixtures and troubleshoot & repair analytical instrumentation
- Lab skills including pipetting, chemical handling, and solution preparation
- Knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft applications and the ability to perform statistical analyses using Excel, JMP, or other statistical applications
- Written and verbal communication skills with an ability to collaborate directly with technical colleagues both on-site and remotely. Able to adapt to others communication preferences
- Ability to interpret technical material including part drawings and specification sheets, vendor literature, and equipment manuals
- Ability to select parts and equipment based on the design requirements for chemical compatibility, operating environment, and reliability.
Education & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, analytical chemistry, or chemistry with analytical
- chemistry emphasis
- 5+ years of experience in product design and development of measurement devices, analytical instrumentation, or medical devices
Preferred:
- Understanding of water chemistry and established methods for measuring contaminants in water matrices
- Knowledge of water treatment processes and regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical water production and analysis
- Knowledge of water treatment processes for municipal and semiconductor grade water production

- Compensation - The salary range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $108,000 - 130,000 annually
