Structural Engineering Lead

Take your career to the next level with us! R.M. Chin & Associates, Inc. (R.M. Chin) is seeking a Structural Engineering Lead with experience in the Chicagoland area. The ideal candidate should have experience preparing bridge Phase II plans and reports for IDOT and Tollway clients. This role presents an opportunity to participate in business development and project management. The ideal candidate should have experience leading and managing a team of structural engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the preparation of Phase II engineering plans and specifications for design of highway and roadway bridge structures and retaining walls.
- Manage the preparation of Phase I TS&L studies and reports.
- Direct the preparation of structural design calculations and modeling to support design recommendations.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals, scope of services, and contract cost estimates.
- Submit documents to federal, state, and local agencies for code compliance review and obtain permits required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university (Master’s degree a plus).
- Requires an Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license and Illinois Structural Engineer (SE) license.
- 7-15 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with relevant industry standard structural design software (STAAD, SAP2000, RAM, LPILE etc.)
- Proficiency with MicroStation required.
- Requires experience with Illinois DOT and Illinois Tollway structures design policies and procedures (County experience a plus).
- Must be self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of project team to complete tasks.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experienced in and fully capable of using the Microsoft software suite including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
