Agriculture Safety Supervisor

Amalgamated Sugar Company is seeking an Agriculture Safety Supervisor to support the Agriculture Department and the Assistant District Safety Managers in the overall management of Safety and Health across the department’s three districts. This position will ensure employee compliance with all applicable rules and regulations governing the sites and meet Amalgamated Sugar’s Safety Initiatives. This position will report to the Director of Safety.

Additional Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement standardized programs across all districts to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Review new or revised regulations and provide site guidance to ensure compliance.
- Ability to lead the review of safety processes and procedures.
- Work directly with the agriculture maintenance manager, district agricultural managers, crop consultants, and seasonal laborers to prevent accidents and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Work directly with the Agriculture Maintenance Manager and Agriculture Maintenance Supervisors to ensure shop equipment, receiving station equipment, and equipment upgrades meet minimum safety requirements.
- Act as the local liaison to OSHA, NESHAPS (Asbestos), Federal, State, City, and other applicable agencies.
- Develop and ensure the continuous improvement of the safety culture through employee involvement and observation programs.
- Ability to conduct incident trend analysis and develop action plans to address these trends.
- Ensure the compliance of Local Emergency Services within our Agriculture Shops and receiving stations.
- Respond to emergencies at the agriculture district locations to act as incident command or to assist in emergency operations as necessary.
- Responsible for the preparation of reports regarding inspections of safety programs. Make recommendations for improvements as required to maintain acceptable standards.
- Assist in effectively managing the site’s Modified Duty Program and emergency care to employees. This will include the management of the Agriculture District’s first-aid team and first-aid care facilities.
- Manage the agriculture safety budget and prioritize safety initiatives to ensure project completion on time and within budget.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health or degree in a related field, or a combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Prior experience in agricultural manufacturing or farming is preferred.
