Role Summary:
We are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who thrives in managing multiple projects simultaneously across various stages. This role will expose you to a diverse range of industries, requiring a self-motivated approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work within a multi-disciplinary engineering team to design custom automation machinery.
- Translate client requirements into design specifications, assess design feasibility, and offer technical guidance.
- Program PLCs, configure safety systems, and design HMI displays.
- Source and program components such as motors, drives, actuators, robots, vision systems, sensors, and servo controls.
- Oversee full system programming, testing, debugging, commissioning, installation, service, and upgrades.
- Develop comprehensive electrical designs, including professional schematics and panel layouts.
- Create and maintain accurate bills of materials (BOMs).
- Draft technical manuals for manufacturing teams and customers.
- Adhere to project schedules and meet key milestones.
- Stay current with cutting-edge technologies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the organization.
- Support equipment used in various industries, including medical, automotive, packaging, high-tech, security, and manufacturing.
Required Experience:
- Strong programming expertise in PLCs, HMI displays, and safety systems, with experience in platforms like Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, and Siemens. Familiarity with B&R and Beckhoff is a plus.
- A comprehensive approach to machine programming with a strong emphasis on system recovery.
- Experience with robotics, automation systems, vision systems, sensors, and servo controls.
- Proficient in PC-based systems, networking, device communications, integration, and design.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical.
- In-depth understanding of electrical component selection and panel layout design, including material safety and labeling practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers and team members, and the ability to effectively present information and respond to queries.
- Must be a proactive, organized individual with solid record-keeping abilities.
- Ability to research and stay updated on new hardware and software to keep machine designs up-to-date.
- Knowledge of mechanical mechanisms, motion, and assembly.
Education & Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE or BSEET) with 5+ years of experience in industrial automation and controls development and commissioning.
- Alternatively, an Associate’s degree (ASEE or ASEET) with 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Candidates with other degrees and relevant experience will also be considered (e.g., Associate’s degree in Robotics and Automation Controls or Electronics).
