ResponsibilitiesJOB DESCRIPTION: - Perform mold related disassembly, cleaning and reassembly as needed, this may include surface cleaning and polishing, hand or air assisted sanding/grinding/filing/stoning and internal cleaning of water channels.
- Perform mold preventive maintenance activities such as cleaning and lubricating molds.
- Repair water and hydraulic leaks as needed.
- Performs mold repairs and improvements as required by production to meet standards. Must be able to safely perform, manage priorities, and work with a sense of urgency.
- At times mold repair work will be required working inside the molding machinery following all accepted safety procedures.
- Perform hot runner system cleaning, disassembly and reassembly as needed, familiar with basic electrical skills as related to hot runner wiring and temperature control.
- Assist in mold changes as required.
- Document specific mold related problems and interface with Process Technicians, Production Supervisors, Engineering, and others.
- Manage internal spare parts, mold and hot runner components, and will interact with outside suppliers and mold makers, as needed.
- Occasional travel to outside suppliers and training, including overnight trips.
- Maintain a neat and orderly workplace.
- Flexibility in working hours and schedule shifts - overtime and weekend work are a requirement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5 years experience working in an injection molding tool repair environment.
- Minimum high school diploma with technical skills training are a plus.
- Understand operating principles of large injection molds that include multiple drop valve gated hot runners, robot automated part removal including EOAT and basic understanding of the injection molding process.
- Knowledge of mold construction tolerances, gating, draft angles, side actions, cores, lifters, preloaded dimensions, core/cavity dimensional relationships, torque values, surface hardness, venting, and other.
- Ability to measure mold components using various hand measuring devices such as scales, indicators, calipers, and micrometers to 0.001 inch.
- Must be able to machine or modify mold components using manually operated (non-CNC) metal working equipment such as a lathe, milling machine, surface grinder, etc.
- Welding experience required (MIG, TIG, etc.). Must be able to weld aluminum.
- Forklift and man lift equipment experience, in-house certification will be required, along with working at elevated heights – knowledge in safety systems and fall protection equipment.
- Must be familiar with approved overhead crane and gantry rigging techniques and be willing to become certified in advanced rigging skills.
- Must have appropriate set of tools required for this work.
- Must have computer skills with experience in Microsoft Applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel. Must be able to enter orders in electronic system.
