Job Description:
This position is responsible for providing high-level support to the Corporate Controller by managing day-to-day accounting activities. The Assistant Controller will ensure quality and accuracy of the financial statements of Centra and all subsidiaries. He/she will lead month end close activities and provide oversight of Centra's accounts payable and fixed asset management functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees month end close processes to produce accurate financial statements
Manages balance sheet and bank account reconciliations
Monitors and reviews financial transactions and reconciliations performed by accountants
Prepares monthly and annual reconciliations to ensure financial accounts are fairly stated
Ensures that accurate records of inventory, fixed assets, and other financial data are maintained
Oversees accounts payable processing, vendor record maintenance, and non-patient receivables
Ensures accounting controls are followed and works with Internal Audit to identify and resolve deficiencies
Works with Corporate Controller and VP Systems Finance to develop, review, and update accounting policies and procedures and organizational policies related to financial transactions
Assists with coordination and preparation of the year-end audit
Leads implementation of technology solutions to enhance and optimize current system functionality
Other Functions:
Prepares journal entries as needed
Develops staff to cultivate an environment of learning and engagement
Keeps abreast of accounting developments by the Financial Accounting Standards Board to ensure all accounting practices stay in compliance
Adheres to corporate and regulatory agency policies
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
CPA
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Three or more years of progressively responsible experience managing accounting, accounts payable and asset management functions
Advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
Strong communication and leadership skills
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
Preferred Qualifications:
Five or more years of experience managing accounting, payroll, and accounts payable functions in a healthcare organization
Basic understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance reimbursement
