LHH Recruitment Solutions has a Senior Transportation / Transit Planner opening for our client in the Boston, MA area. This direct hire role focuses on managing and leading planning projects related to transit including creation of budget, schedule, and quality control. Candidates will oversee the highest quality project deliverables for transit planning projects including being responsible for leading pursuits to award planning contracts, overseeing project development, and managing staff. This role will cover MTA, NYCEDC, PANYNJ, NYCDOT, and NYSDOT jurisdictions.
PE IS REQUIRED. Successful candidates will also have a minimum 10 years’ experience in rail and bus transit planning as well as with FTA Small/New Starts and FRA Project Development. Proven experience in having a proven ability to facilitate compiling reporting and data, and experience in writing proposals also required. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience with a BS in in planning or engineering, however, a Masters is highly preferred.
Salary range: $107,000 to $140,000 DOE.
Responsibilities:
Maintain current working knowledge of industry standards, codes, and best practices related to transportation laws and regulations.
- Managing and oversee all transit planning projects and tasks.
- Establishing and tracking projects scopes, schedules, budgets, and quality control.
- Assist staff in collaborative efforts of multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of transit-related planning and engineering contracts and projects as needed.
- Leading transit planning project pursuits, RFQ’s with clients and formation of strategic teaming arrangements to win key projects.
- Expanding market share with existing and future clients, including MTA, NYCEDC, PANYNJ, NYCDOT, and NYSDOT.
- Supporting development of the planning department staff.
Requirements:
- Proven experience successfully delivering transit planning projects for rail and bus.
- Proven experience in deliverables such as feasibility studies, alternatives analyses, and advanced studies in-line with FTA Small/New Starts and FRA Project Development.
- Proven ability to lead and manage staff and promote professional development through clear communication, guidance, and constructive feedback.
- Strong desire to source, develop, and maintain strong client relationships through targeted client interaction and marketing.
- Minimum of 10 years of related work experience in project planning for rail and buses.
- PE professional certification required.
- Bachelors degree in planning or engineering, Masters highly preferred.
