Job Description:
Virtualization Administrator
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, configure, and maintain virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, or similar technologies to ensure high availability and performance.
- Monitor virtual environments and optimize resource usage, including CPU, memory, storage, and network.
- Implement, maintain, and monitor disaster recovery solutions for virtualized environments, ensuring business continuity.
- Manage and deploy virtual machines (VMs), including provisioning, scaling, and migration of virtual instances.
- Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement virtual infrastructure solutions that meet business requirements and ensure scalability.
- Perform regular security assessments and implement necessary patches and updates to ensure the integrity of virtual environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtualization, working closely with other IT staff to resolve complex problems.
- Develop and maintain documentation for virtual infrastructure, including procedures, configurations, and support guides.
- Stay current with the latest trends and advancements in virtual
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred but not required.
- Proven experience as a Virtualization Administrator or in a similar role, with expertise in managing VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization platforms.
- Strong understanding of virtualization concepts, hypervisors, and virtual machine lifecycle management.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery strategies in virtualized environments.
- Knowledge of networking, storage, and security practices related to virtual infrastructure.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell or Bash is a plus.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and within a team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
