SUMMARY OF POSITION
This position is responsible for the oversight of the Inpatient Social Workers with dotted line responsibility to some outpatient programs on a supervision basis. Provides a systematic and coordinated approach to Social Services.
ESSENTIALS DUTIES
- Effectively administers department operations for the on-going clinical deliveries of the Social Services Department.
- Maintains LPS Designation.
- Effectively performs Fiscal Management Functions of the Social Services Department including preparation of Annual Operating Budget and Capital Budget.
- Communicates effectively with patients' family and significant others.
- Develops a professional relationship with community schools of social work, supervising Social Work Interns and serving as liaison to Graduate Schools of Social Work.
- Maintains current and accurate department records.
- Attends treatment planning meetings to discuss the patients’ status and care plans.
- When necessary, communicates with Physicians and Insurance Companies regarding the patient’s progress.
- Initiates and complies with the steps outlined in the Patient/Family notification Procedure when required to inform patients/families about the outcomes of care.
- Works in conjunction with the Director of Quality Improvement to prioritize risks, review and analyze data, performs risk analysis, and quality improvement data.
- Implements and maintains quality management activities necessary to effectively operate the Social Work Services department including timeliness of Social Service notes.
- Develops, implements and periodically evaluates the Social Work Services Policies & Procedures manual to meet all licensing and accreditation standards and ensures that Departmental practices reflect policy.
- Responsible for consistent administration of Administrative and Personnel Policies and standards of care in the department and with staff.
- Participates with other disciplines in the development of policies and procedures, which affect the management of Clinical programs and quality patient care.
- Provides clinical consultation to the professional staff on request.
- Represents Social Services staff on various Management, Clinical and Planning Committees.
- Serves as a' representative to various community agencies such as DCFS, DMH, DHS, and acts as liaison to develop and discuss resource options for referrals, placement, continuity of care etc.
- Conducts orientation for newly hired department staff, effectively evaluating, documenting, and communicating performance during 90-day introductory period, effectively manages training and continuing education needs of department staff.
- Review Program job duties annually. Evaluates department staff performance and goals annually, implements commendations, wage increases, disciplinary actions and terminations in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates dependable and consistent attendance according to work schedule, punctual.
- In collaboration with Human Resources, ensures department personnel are recruited and selected using the nondiscriminatory employment policies and procedures.
- Participates in Hospital Management, Professional Staff and weekly meetings as needed.
Qualifications
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATES
- Masters Degree In Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- Five (5) years of successful experience in a psychiatric setting providing individual, family, and group therapy.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.
- Valid California Driver’s license.
- TB clearance.
- Driving record acceptable for coverage by insurance carrier.
- Fire and Safety Training*.
- First Aid Training Certification*.
- CPR Certification*.
- Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI)**
