Summary:
The Power BI Architect will Design, code, test, and document all new or modified BI systems, applications, and programs. Develop the data layer, cubes, metadata, and report functionality. Leads the design of databases and data warehouses to ensure interoperability with BI solutions.
Job Description
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years in Data, BI, Insights, and Reporting domains.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI (both desktop and cloud), including Admin portal, Direct Lake, DAX, Metrics, Semantic model, and report server expertise.
- Over 10 years of experience in data warehousing, data modeling, and data visualization.
- Proven ability to provide oversight and expertise in Data Modeling and Database Design.
- Proficient in architecting and developing data models, ETL packages, OLAP cubes, and reports using Power BI, adhering to best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
- Experience using Power BI for Compliance, Auditing, Data Privacy, Data Classification, Security, and Access Control.
- Skilled in business analysis and requirements gathering.
- Demonstrable experience in developing, validating, publishing, and maintaining both LOGICAL and PHYSICAL data models.
- Familiar with a variety of data modeling tools.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members, support staff, and provide technical guidance and expertise to customers and management.
- Ability to thrive in a self-directed work environment.
- Experience with CMD and PowerShell scripting for automation tasks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to the design, creation, and testing of applications.
- Proficiency with Azure AD and O365 administration.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the administration of Power BI Services.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing, developing, and implementing Power BI solutions.
- Deep understanding of data modeling principles and best practices.
- Collaborate closely with various data lake teams and business customers to identify reporting needs for the Power BI Service.
- Provide training and support to users on Power BI tools and techniques.
- Assess existing data models and physical databases for inconsistencies and discrepancies.
- Responsible for full spectrum Power BI service administration, including user management, workspace management, gateway administration, data source creation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Develop complex calculations using DAX.
- Manage workspace migrations, monitor premium capacities, configure and manage workloads, and optimize premium capacities.
- Troubleshoot reporting and connectivity issues related to gateways.
- Assist in the performance tuning of reports using Tabular Editor or DAX Studio.
- Collaborate with data owners and report developers to effectively meet their needs.
- Enhance and expand Power BI Service by designing and deploying workspaces, data models, application tiers, gateways, report services, and dashboard support.
- Configure tenant settings, organizational visuals, and other settings in the Power BI admin portal.
- Utilize PowerShell and REST APIs to access metadata, refresh data, gather usage metrics, and conduct auditing.
- Manage Power BI licensing, subscriptions, and audit logs.
- Set up data gateways to facilitate access to multiple data sources across the enterprise.
- Stay current with the latest Power BI features and functionalities.
- Lead and mentor junior team members.
- Adhere to all confidentiality, HIPAA, regulatory, and other policies, procedures, and requirements as outlined by the employer.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and mission statement, and fulfill additional responsibilities assigned to further operational and financial success.
