Job Purpose
At Elite Metal Finishing, LLC., the Quality Control Inspector II, is primarily responsible to uphold the policies our company has created and oversee the product development process to ensure that all products meet quality standards and that customer specifications are being met and are followed.
The successful Quality Control Inspector II will perform quality control inspections, checks, and tests during the manufacture of products. Inspects materials, parts, and products at different stages of production. The Quality Control Inspector II will record observations and makes recommendations for improving processes. He/she will have gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. He/she must have knowledge of ERP systems to produce Quality Reports for internal and external end users.
The Quality Inspection Department supports Elite Metal Finishing quality initiatives, which includes Quality Policy, Quality Objectives, and Quality Management System and drives continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary duties and responsibilities of this potion include but not limited to:
- Ensure that all the quality check procedures put in place by the company are followed during every phase of the process.
- Perform required physical testing, per the Work Instructions.
- Develop inspection plans which reference EMF/customer specific requirements. Working with Quality Supervisor and Q&PP Manager on capturing part specific processing plans.
- Perform required visual checks.
- If the parts have masking, you must check the parts against the highlighted blueprint and corresponding PO to ensure accuracy of masking.
- Become Subject matter expert with regards to multi process orders.
- Develop internal masking approval with resource owners prior to potential process failures. Capture relevant inspection data within Masking technique.
- Notate Pass or Fail status on Shop Traveler if necessary. Rejections must be reported to resource owner for disposition. Photo documentation is required in instances where rework paperwork or customer interaction is required. Notify Q&PP Manager and tag parts “ON HOLD” or Under review for disposition.
- If you are performing Copper Sulfate or 24-hour humidity tests, the logbooks must be filled out completely.
- Review all the Shop Travelers to make sure that all required boxes have been stamped and all required information has been notated.
- Make sure that all Packaging Instructions have been followed. Do not ship parts that have not been packaged according to customers’ instructions. Monitor packing department to ensure traceability is maintained when required.
- Inspect expedite, regular and rework orders for proper processing.
- When inspecting large quantity orders, QC Inspector II must gather random samples of parts.
- Gather required measurement tools.
- Take photos, email customers and production with findings.
- Function as a Change Agent with regards to Job scanning accuracy and improving efficiencies on shop floor.
- Develop improvement solutions utilizing ERP software to prevent reoccurring quality issues and note the corrective actions taken via Process Instruction improvements and/or customer specific planning.
- Educate production team on the quality control issues and work with department managers, supervisors or leads, to improve the overall product quality and manufacturability of components.
- Support Quality Engineering and Specialist on trouble shooting process breakdowns and corrective action implementation.
- Respond to all emails and phone calls.
- Provide regular housekeeping of Inspection Benches to maintain organization and cleanliness.
- Maintain 5S schedule and audit housing keeping and develop improvement opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- 3 to 5 years of Quality Control Inspection or applicable work experience required.
- High School Diploma, equivalency or work experience accepted.
- Basic Blueprint reading and interpretation, required.
- Microsoft Office Suite
- ERP functional knowledge.
- Excellent verbal, written and Customer Service skills.
- Experience with measuring devices such as meters, gauges, computers, calipers, and other measuring instruments
- Must be able to work fulltime, plus overtime and weekends as required.
