Looking for a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer who wants to expand their scope and grow their career. This position is located in our San Jose headquarter office, reports to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, and works in a talented organization.
This position requires to do board layout design, mechanical component and platform enclosure design, mechanical drawings, design documentation, hand-on manual works, supplier/manufacturer interface, and quality testing.
Key responsibilities
- Perform circuit board layouts and placement of electronic components on circuit boards.
- Design mechanical components and platform enclosures.
- Draft 2D drawings of circuit board layouts, mechanical components, and system assemblies.
- Prepare design documentation. Structure BOMs and generate ECRs to release products to Arena.
- Work with manufacturer to address DFM feedback.
- Perform inspection of materials and resolving quality issues.
- Perform hand-on works (prototype circuit board build, mechanical assembling, cable routing, machining, sheetmetal modifications…)
- Support thermal and mechanical testing.
Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in mechanical engineering with 5+ years of experience in mechanical design of computer/network/data storage equipment designed to operate in data centers.
- Familiar with ECO, BOM and Deviation processes. PTC Arena experience a plus.
- Proficient in mechanical CAD. Experience with Creo Elements/Direct is a plus.
- Experience with simulation (CFD, Mechanica) is a plus.
- Experience with liquid cooling systems is a plus.
- Experience with thermal and mechanical testing is a plus.
- Experience designing circuit board layouts, sheet metal parts and mechanical components.
- Experience with GD&T is a plus.
- Experience using hand tools and operating machining equipment is a plus.
