Responsibilities
The Practice Leader will be a proven leader with demonstrated supervisory or management experience leading and developing a team. These activities include supervising and monitoring projects in progress in the department to ensure that work is executed on time and in accordance with the client’s requirements and within company policies, procedures, and standards. Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Hydraulics and Hydrology team, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
- Drive standards, trackers, financials, and other operational aspects to optimize group performance.
- Report monthly to the Board of Directors on the performance and strategic direction of the hydraulics and hydrology group.
- Conduct weekly meetings with Team Leads, Client Managers, and Project Managers to align on project objectives and address any challenges.
- Make informed decisions on which projects and opportunities to pursue, considering factors such as technical feasibility, client requirements, and financial viability.
- Ensure the correct teams and staff are assigned to projects, leveraging their expertise and skills for project success.
- Serve as a Client Manager to select key clients while working to transition client management responsibilities to the next level of staff.
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members, offering expertise in hydraulics and hydrology engineering principles and methodologies.
- Develop programs, trainings, and goals to enhance the skills and capabilities of the hydraulics and hydrology group.
- Implement strategic training initiatives to ensure continuous professional development within the team.
- Engage in strategic planning activities to set the direction and priorities for the hydraulics and hydrology group, aligning with overall company objectives.
- Ensure that all projects adhere to QA/QC standards and procedures, maintaining high-quality deliverables and client satisfaction.
- Take responsibility for the overall financial performance of the hydraulics and hydrology group, including budget management and revenue generation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- 10+ years of experience in civil engineering, with a proven track record of leadership and project management.
- Take responsibility for the overall financial performance of the hydraulics and hydrology group, including budget management and revenue generation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Strategic thinker with a vision for the future of civil engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop staff.
- Proven track record in strategic planning, project management, and financial management.
- Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices in hydraulics and hydrology engineering.
