Large food manufacturing plant in San Antonio TX is looking for a Director of Quality out of a food manufacturing environment. MUST COME OUT OF A POULTRY TYPE OF MANUFACTURING.
MUST BE LOCAL TO SAN ANTONIO TEXAS WITHIN 50 MILES
Must-Haves:
Must have strong leadership experience
Must have a strong background with audits and making sure team and facility is audit ready and history of passing audits
Need to have a strong Food safety background as well
Need to be SQF certified
Need to have a BA degree minimum
Salary Range $130k-$140k
Relocation offered as a sign on bonus
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Directs and oversees the quality department and supervisory staff (18-20).
• Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
• Handles coaching and progressive corrective action of employees in accordance with company policy.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Assurance
• Evaluates production operations from a strategic level to ensure that products meet quality, integrity, functionality, and other specifications and requirements.
• Collaborates with management and senior staff across production facilities, departments and roles to draft acceptable quality standards
• Develops and implements quality standard testing and evaluation processes
• Facilitates communication and develops Quality training among production and management
• Assesses test results and approves recommended changes
• Reviews quality control documentation such as checklists, logs, and reports for effectiveness, accuracy, and relevance
• Conducts random inspections and quality control checks
• Periodically reports status of quality control and operations to executive leadership and, when required, regulatory agencies
• Serves as main point of contact for USDA
• Manages third party audits and conducts internal audits
• Analyzes customer complaint trends
Research & Development
• Oversee the development of custom formulas
• Collaborate with sales/marketing to understand customer expectations on to-be produced products
• Collaborate with other departments to scale recipes for industrial processing
• Create nutritional labels and manage label approvals with USDA
• Manage customer relationships
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related industrial, scientific, or business field required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 8-10 years of related experience required; with at least five years in leading a team in a similar role highly preferred.
• Previous experience in further processed meat required; specialty in poultry, preferred.
• Experience working with USDA and FDA in dual registered facility.
• Prior experience participating in GFSI audits required.

• Understanding of pathogens and other food contaminants.
• Understanding of modes of control of various sanitation chemicals and physical cleaning.
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
