The Network Engineer oversees IT network infrastructure administration, implementation, maintenance, and day-to-day operations. This role is responsible for the stability of network infrastructure, leading initiatives, and project execution. The successful candidate will draw on their years of enterprise-level network administration experience to build and scale network infrastructure and systems in support of IT’s mission to continually accelerate the business.
The Network Engineer reports to the VP of IT and Operations. This position will work closely with the broader Technology team and key business stakeholders across all departments to support IT operations objectives. This role requires a strong technical background in network infrastructure across on-premises and cloud architectures and exceptional leadership and communication skills.
What You Will Do:
Network and Cloud Infrastructure Operations Management: 85% of typical work volume
• Oversee ongoing administration of network resources including switching, routing and firewalls.
• Multi-Cloud IaaS supporting business units across the organization.
• 35+ Office locations located in the United States.
• NGFW, on-prem and cloud-based VPN, SD-WAN
• Multiple LAN and WAN networks across physical and cloud topologies.
• Coordinate infrastructure implementation and administration activities with external managed service providers.
• Participate in projects, schedules, tasks, and initiatives.
• Partner with the organization’s security team in support of IT security operations and administration of security systems and applications.
• Maintain proper patching of all networking infrastructure.
• Assist in developing technology documentation and maintaining and testing disaster resiliency strategies and procedures.
Systems and process design, implementation and administration: 15% of typical work volume
• Participate in systems design, implementation, and administration.
• Identify and report opportunities for process improvements and solicit recommendations.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.
What You Will Bring
• 5+ years of progressively complex experience in enterprise network environments.
• 3+ years’ experience in designing/deploying/documenting Cisco WAN, LAN & WI-FI network solutions for large enterprise environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Management, or Leadership related fields.
• CCNA & CCNP or other industry certifications.
• Hands-on experience with implementing or managing Cisco Meraki WAN, LAN, SD-WAN and Firewall solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Umbrella Cloud Firewall and DNS security tools.
• Strong knowledge of Cisco ISE.
• Introduction knowledge of Microsoft Azure network topology and relevant IaaS.
• Introduction knowledge of Microsoft Enterprise Technologies including AD, Azure Active Directory, and Windows Domains.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of a wide array of IT Security technologies including NGFW, IDS/IPS, SD-WAN, VPNs.
• Proficiency in 802.1x authentication implementation and troubleshooting (cisco/meraki).
• Solid experience with IT operations processes including ITSM, Asset Inventory/CMDB, and Change Management
• Strong analytical and problem-solving background; good project management skills with the ability to multitask and self-direct multiple ongoing tasks.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing assignments and ability to effectively prioritize.
• Effective written and verbal English communication at all levels.
• Demonstrated ability to operate and innovate in a small team with a fast‐paced environment, balancing both strategic and tactical needs.
Physical Requirements
- This position requires the physical capabilities to work in an office environment, which may include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. - This position is required to work onsite 4 days per week.
