CBTS is currently seeking a Senior Data Architect for a position located in Cincinnati, OH. This position will be working in the Cincinnati office 2 days a week and working 3 days a week remotely.
The Senior Data Architect will play a critical role in designing and optimizing data infrastructure across multiple database platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle. This individual will be responsible for assessing the current data architecture, recommending a future state architecture, and defining the strategy for data management and reporting. Working closely with business leaders and IT teams, the Senior Data Architect will ensure that the data architecture aligns with the organization’s goals and supports decision-making through advanced reporting capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Architecture Review & Assessment:
- Analyze the current data architecture, including all data sources and databases (e.g., MS SQL Server, Oracle, etc.), to identify inefficiencies, gaps, and potential improvements.
Future State Design:
- Develop and propose a scalable, efficient, and secure future-state architecture to support evolving business needs, including data integration, storage, and retrieval strategies.
Data Strategy Development:
- Create a comprehensive data strategy that outlines the roadmap for data management, consolidation, governance, and reporting aligned with the organization’s business goals.
Database Management & Optimization:
- Oversee and provide expertise on optimizing the performance, security, and scalability of database systems. Implement best practices for database configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Reporting & Analytics Architecture:
- Develop architecture frameworks that support robust reporting and analytics platforms. Collaborate with BI and reporting teams to ensure data accessibility and consistency for decision-making purposes.
Cross-Platform Data Integration:
- Define and implement data integration strategies across different data sources, ensuring seamless data flow between MS SQL, Oracle, and other systems, as well as between on-premise and cloud environments.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate with IT, Business Intelligence, Data Science, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into architectural solutions. Effectively communicate the proposed strategy, architecture, and roadmaps to leadership and technical teams.
Governance & Best Practices:
- Establish and enforce data governance, quality standards, and best practices. Provide guidance on data security, privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.), and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in data architecture, database management, or a related field.
- Strong experience working with multiple databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and cloud-based platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.).
- Hands-on experience designing data architectures for reporting and analytics platforms.
Technical Skills:
- Deep knowledge of database design, data integration, and optimization techniques.
- Expertise in database technologies such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, and familiarity with cloud databases like Azure SQL, AWS RDS, etc.
- Proficiency in data modeling, ETL frameworks, and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
- Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance standards.
- Knowledge of data lake, data warehousing, and big data architectures.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to align technical solutions to business goals.
- Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
- Ability to manage complex projects, timelines, and cross-functional dependencies.
Preferred:
- Experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services.
- Experience implementing data governance frameworks.
- Professional certifications in data architecture, cloud databases, or related technologies.
