LHH Recruitment Solutions seeks a full-time Senior Application Database Administrator to work onsite for our client in Castle Rock, CO. The Senior Application Database Administrator is responsible for developing, managing, and securing databases across multiple platforms, including SQL Server, MySQL, and Amazon RDS. This full-time position involves designing and optimizing data structures, ensuring database availability and performance, managing security, and supporting complex SQL processes. The role includes troubleshooting database issues, leading upgrade projects, and providing SQL training to business users. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience, a strong background in database administration, and the ability to work independently and handle diverse environments effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the continuous availability, security, and optimal performance of critical application databases across SQL Server, MySQL, and Amazon RDS platforms.
- Design, implement, and enhance data structures and schemas to align with business requirements and support application needs.
- Integrate and streamline data from various sources into unified, accessible formats.
- Monitor, diagnose, and resolve complex database issues, implementing performance improvements as necessary.
- Oversee database security, manage access controls, and ensure proper data distribution to users.
- Work closely with software developers and application teams to incorporate efficient database solutions into applications.
- Optimize SQL Server processes and manage SQLite database creation for mobile apps.
- Conduct ad hoc reporting using advanced querying techniques.
- Document data models and convert raw data into actionable business insights.
- Serve as the expert on data management, including its storage and usage.
- Develop, implement, and test backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures to minimize downtime.
- Lead projects related to database upgrades, migrations, and patch management.
- Manage and update test data for development teams.
- Provide SQL training, generate reports, and handle routine task transitions to support business users.
Must-Have Technical Skills:
- Over 10 years of experience in administering Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Proven ability to work independently as a sole DBA, managing and driving critical tasks effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of SQL Server backup, recovery, security, and data integrity.
- Proficiency in creating and managing complex stored procedures, reports, and queries.
- Experience in database design and development.
- Familiarity with administering SQL Server on Linux is a plus.
- Experience with SQL Server on Amazon RDS is a plus.
- Knowledge of third-party tools such as Redgate SQL Compare and SQL Data Compare.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred but not required with strong experience)
- Experience in the aviation industry; particularly valuable if you have experience as an App/DB Admin with a private pilot license or background in aviation SaaS.
Compensation/Benefits: $100,000-$140,000
