Distribution Safety Manager to join our HNI Workplace Furnishings Operations team. The ideal candidate will focus on driving proactive safety actions and metrics, ensuring compliance, and fostering a culture of safety within our distribution facilities. This role is crucial in achieving a safer workplace and reducing injury rates.
- Coordinate with Distribution and HNI safety leadership to follow up on reported incidents and maintain work restrictions.
- Engage with team members daily to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Work with maintenance and leadership teams to ensure safe equipment installation and movement.
- Document compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and company policies using provided tools and training.
What You Will Do: - Achieve a 10% reduction in year-over-year Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) by implementing proactive safety measures.
- Conduct shop floor Gemba walks and behavior-based safety audits to engage team members.
- Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions for member injuries and high-risk activities.
- Collaborate with corporate safety members to implement safety initiatives, including racking standards, powered equipment/pedestrian separation and manual product handling.
- Identify ergonomic improvements and implement solutions to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries.
- Share safety best practices across HNI locations and participate in worker compensation claim reviews.
What You Have: - Safety experience in distribution (forklift powered equipment, loading trailers, manual manipulation of product).
- Ability to drive understanding and improvement activities.
- Effective communication with members, supervisors, and all levels of leadership.
- Expertise in identifying root causes and resolving safety and sustainability issues.
What You're Good At: - Visualizing safety performance and improvement plans to engage all team members.
- Implementing job rotation strategies and reducing repetitive motion injuries.
- Enhancing ergonomics and identifying process improvements to minimize worker's compensation claims.
