Position Summary
The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager is responsible for environmental, health and safety leadership for the Thermoid Bellefontaine, OH site. This individual will be responsible for development, continued implementation and auditing of a comprehensive EHS system to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all employees. The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager leads programs in all areas of safety to drive employee engagement, supports a strong safety culture, integrates with production and quality standards, and provides functional expertise for compliance and best practices to manufacturing teams. Key metrics are occupational injuries and illness rates and cost of claims management, compliance status, and safety program effectiveness.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Set Thermoid EHS strategic and tactical plans aligned to business objectives
- Evaluate and recommend controls and best practices that achieve compliance to Thermoid policy, regulations as well as reduce exposure liability
- Lead the EHS training program to support education and development of manufacturing teams at all levels and departments based on roles and responsibilities
- Provide timely reporting to leadership of all safety metrics and collaborate with relevant teams to address and rectify safety concerns
- Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents and near misses to identify root causes. Prepare detailed reports, analyze trends and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences
- Conduct regular site audits to identify potential hazardous equipment as well as risk in the workplace
- Review all equipment design changes to ensure OHSA compliance safety is met
- Develop communication and awareness of safety policies and systems to increase the safety skill levels of all employees
- Perform testing, inspections, and maintain accurate and current data for EPA reporting
- Inspect and verify company compliance with relevant safety regulations
Experience and Education Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or Business
- 5 years’ experience working in EHS, preferably in manufacturing
- Experience developing and maintaining safety programs
- Ability to provide EHS leadership and coaching to managers and employees
- Experience measuring EHS performance with a focus on leading indicators, risk assessment and root cause analysis
- Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and government EHS regulations
