About the Opportunity
As an Upkara Process Engineer II, you will have a vital role in helping us scale and commercialize our stabilization process. We are looking for a versatile engineer with strong fundamentals in applied physics and mathematics who is looking to apply their proven analytical ability in solving process and product design challenges in a fast-paced startup environment.
This position may require domestic travel to customer locations for product installations and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Direct lab scientist resources in performing experimental work and generate data to help our understanding of the stabilization process scaling parameters
- Identify and implement process analytics tools for process mapping and real-time process control
- Develop and apply an understanding of capillary materials in sourcing and validating novel materials for use in the Upkara stabilization process
- Apply first principles to model the Upkara stabilization process and generate functional requirements for Upkara stabilization chambers and associated process consumables
- Translate functional requirements into engineering requirements and contribute towards the development of future stabilization chambers and process consumables
- Develop testing and validation plans and qualification metrics for the stabilization process and ensure implementation in our manufacturing operations
- Supervise one or more junior engineers, lab scientist or technician resources
About You:
- You possess a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related fields with industry experience.
- Proficient developing 3D models and assemblies and 2D machine drawings (Fusion 360 experience strongly preferred).
- You have hands-on prototype fabrication and assembly experience.
- Experience working in a R&D or startup environment strongly preferred
- Strong fundamentals in applied physics and mathematics.
- Experience with design of experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis.
- Experience with microcontroller and/or PLC programming..
- Experience working with vacuum based systems strongly preferred
- Experience with lyophilization equipment and process is a plus
