Position Description:
Gateway Gastroenterology is an independent 6-physician, 3-nurse practitioner Gastroenterology practice in Chesterfield, Missouri. There is a new opening for a full-time clinical office nurse to join our staff in providing patient-centered, high-value care in our office and our infusion center. Our nurses work Monday-Friday only with no after hours call or weekend call. They have access to an advanced nurse practitioner at all times and also a gastroenterologist onsite so that there is plenty of support for our patients. Our nurses follow all federal, state, and nursing standards/regulations, are BCLS certified and they advise our patients under the direction of our providers regarding their prescriptions and treatment plans. Our nurses also help with ordering tests, including x-rays, bloodwork, and scans. Results are first reviewed and analyzed by our providers and our nurses may then contact the patient with their results. We are looking for nurses who are proficient in using EHR software, and also work well within a team of nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and gastroenterologists. **Key Responsibilities:**
1. **Patient Care:**
- Provide pre- and post-procedure care, including patient education and counseling on preparation and aftercare.
- Administer iv medications and injections as prescribed by the physician.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and report any concerns to the physician.
2. **Clinical Support:**
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and equipment, ensuring all are properly sanitized and ready for use.
- Coordinate and schedule diagnostic tests, follow-up appointments, and procedures.
- Manage and update patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
3. **Patient Education:**
- Educate patients about gastroenterological conditions, treatments, and lifestyle modifications.
- Provide guidance on dietary changes, medication regimens, and follow-up care.
- Address patient questions and concerns, providing support and reassurance.
4. **Administrative Duties:**
- Assist with insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and patient referrals.
- Handle patient intake, including completing necessary forms and verifying patient information.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and order replacements as needed.
5. **Collaboration:**
- Work closely with the gastroenterology team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and other healthcare providers.
- Participate in office meetings and contribute to improving office procedures and patient care practices.
**Qualifications:**
- **Education:** Nursing degree from an accredited institution (LPN or RN).
- **Licensure/Certification:** Current nursing license in [State]. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
- **Experience:** Previous experience in a gastroenterology or related medical field preferred. Familiarity with gastroenterological procedures and patient care is advantageous.

- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems, eClinicalWorks preferred.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
**Physical Requirements:**
- Capable of standing and walking around the office.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and responsibilities.
**Work Environment:**
- Primarily office-based in an outpatient building with medical equipment.
- Collaborative and team-oriented setting.
Compensation details: 32-36 Hourly Wage
