Job Summary: The Data Center Engineer with a hardware focus will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware in our data centers. This role requires a deep understanding of server hardware, storage systems, network equipment, and other physical components. The ideal candidate will ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of the data center hardware infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
Hardware Installation and Configuration:
- Install and configure servers, storage systems, and network devices.
- Rack, stack, and cable hardware equipment following best practices.
- Ensure all hardware components are properly labeled and documented.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine maintenance and health checks on data center hardware.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Replace faulty components such as hard drives, memory modules, and power supplies.
Capacity Planning and Optimization:
- Monitor hardware utilization and performance metrics.
- Assist in capacity planning to ensure hardware resources meet current and future demands.
- Optimize hardware configurations for maximum efficiency and performance.
Hardware Inventory Management:
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all data center hardware.
- Track hardware assets, including serial numbers, warranty status, and lifecycle information.
- Manage hardware decommissioning and disposal following company policies and environmental regulations.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with network engineers, system administrators, and other IT staff to support data center operations.
- Provide technical guidance and support for hardware-related projects and initiatives.
- Assist with data center relocations, expansions, and upgrades.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of hardware configurations, installations, and maintenance activities.
- Generate reports on hardware performance, issues, and resolutions.
- Ensure all hardware documentation is up to date and easily accessible.
Required Skills:
Minimum Qualifications
· 10+ years of direct engineering and design experience expertise in creating repeatable, reliable, scalable applications and systems, with fault tolerance, performance tuning, monitoring systems, statistics/metrics collection, and disaster recovery
· Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills needed to work well with peers, end users, management, and vendors
· Certifications (Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix, VMware) a plus
