O’Hagan Meyer LLC, a national multi-office law firm headquartered in Chicago, is seeking a highly motivated Legal Billing Manager to join our team. This position would lead a team of 18 billers and 2 assistant managers. They will be responsible to ensure accurate and compliant billing practices on a monthly cycle.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position will work in collaboration with two assistant managers to supervise the firm's billing operations
The Legal Billing Manager will help support all department initiatives and directly supervise assigned Billing Specialists
Ability to understand and implement client billing guidelines, work with the Billing Specialist for set-up and compliance
Provide direction and assign work to Billing Specialist
Monitor workloads, quality of work, and adherence to established firm policies and procedures
Identify, establish, and provide training and enhance skill development for the Billing team
Provide assistance and resolution for any issues regarding billing procedures or inquiries from the billing team, attorneys, or clients
Coordinate efforts to ensure coverage for absences, including development of contingency plans
Coordinate team meetings
Qualifications:
Proficient in electronic billing processes and every aspect of the legal billing process
7+ years in legal billing for a law firm
MS Office, Excel, and tech-savvy to learn systems
Experience with Juris a plus
Demonstrated managerial/leadership skills
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, vendors, and clients
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Team player with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure
Strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment to meet deadlines
Strong knowledge of legal billing practices and terminology
