Position Summary:
Working under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the MDS Coordinator is responsible for developing care plans for each resident, including conducting and coordinating the development and completion of the resident assessment in accordance with State requirements and facility policies and procedures. The MDS coordinator uses data from a standardized assessment that evaluates the functional capabilities of each patient.
Minimum job requirements include:
- Nursing Degree from an accredited college of university, as well as prior experience as a MDS Coordinator in a Skilled Nursing facility, preferred.
- Current, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in California.
- Current knowledge/understanding of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as relevant laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- The ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and the general public.
- Excellent communication, decision-making and interpersonal/communication skills.
- Microsoft office and computer proficiency. Experience with electronic records preferred.
- The willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
