Job Title: Litigation Legal Assistant
Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Litigation Legal Assistant to support our legal team in all aspects of litigation. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills, a thorough understanding of legal procedures, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. This position involves assisting attorneys with case management, document preparation, client communication, and court filings, ensuring that all deadlines are met and legal processes are followed efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in preparing and organizing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery materials.
- Manage case files and maintain up-to-date and organized records of all case-related documents.
- Coordinate and schedule appointments, meetings, and court appearances.
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information to support ongoing cases.
- Prepare and file legal documents with state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with court rules and procedures.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, and court officials to facilitate case progress and information exchange.
- Track deadlines, court dates, and other important timelines using case management software.
- Assist in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing witness lists, and arranging trial logistics.
- Handle client billing, invoicing, and other administrative tasks as required.
- Provide general administrative support to attorneys and other legal staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Certification as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant is a plus.
- 2+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably in litigation.
- Proficient in using legal software, Microsoft Office Suite, and document management systems.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, court procedures, and legal documentation.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
