The Construction Services team at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research is seeking a skilled and experienced Painter/Carpenter to join our team. This candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to both painting and carpentry work. This individual must have a strong attention to detail, excellent craftsmanship, and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Responsibilities include
- Prepare surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding and patching holes and cracks
- Apply paint and other finishes to various surfaces with brushes and rollers
- Perform carpentry tasks such as framing, installing trim, doors, windows and cabinetry
- Repair and replace damaged woodwork, drywall and other building materials
- Measure and cut materials to specified dimensions using hand and power tools
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs to ensure the safety and functionality of facilities
- Maintain an inventory of painting and carpentry supplies
- Follow safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment
- Collaborate with other facilities team members to prioritize tasks and complete projects in a timely manner
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned, as needed
Minimum Requirements
- experience as facilities Painter/Carpenter or similar role
- in either painting or carpentry techniques or both
- knowledge of painting materials and techniques in a commercial environment
- attention to detail and precision
- to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid Driver’s license
Minimum Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Vocational Training or apprenticeship is a plus
