Engineered Syntactic Systems is a division of Globe Composite Solutions, located in Stoughton MA. ESS will be moving from Attleboro MA to Stoughton Ma during 2025 Q1. All applicants must be willing to commute to Attleboro and Stoughton MA.
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, responsible for actively driving and managing the technical aspects of the value-added sales process from RFQ evaluation through project completion. Responsible for the development of project specifications, communication/documentation of project needs to production, development/management of product testing requirements, schedule management, and sourcing of non-standard materials for job requirements. Must be able to create and deliver detailed engineering presentations for customer review. Works within the overall company structure for the achievement of quality and consistency of product and service delivery, customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term account goals in line with company vision and values.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Primary technical resource on a project basis for internal and external customers
- Evaluate and develop project models using SolidWorks from customer submission stage through drawing release to production floor
- Ability to respond to functional and technical elements of RFI’s/RFP’s
- Develops clear and effective written proposals/quotations for current and prospective customers
- Acts as project manager and primary POC for select customers and contracts.
- Uses mechanical engineering skills to support development of new products (mechanical design, stress/strain calculations, etc.)
- Work with production to create necessary procedures, fixtures and test methods to ensure efficient and satisfactory project completion.
- Assists in the development and upgrade ESS in-house and external machining capabilities including some internal CNC programming.
- Effectively communicates material needs to purchasing personnel to ensure timely and sufficient availability
- Effectively communicate timeline and project needs to internal production line and external vendors, and end customers.
- Effectively develop and communicate suitable packaging/crating needs for finished product shipment to vendors and/or final customer.
- Participate in trade shows and customer visits as appropriate for ESS market
- Expedites the resolution of customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management
- Adhere to Business Management System requirements
- Support value add and cost reduction proposals
EDUCATION AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
- 1 – 3 years of industry experience
- Demonstrates technical selling skills and product knowledge
- Intermediate or better knowledge of SolidWorks
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office applications
- Results-oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent presentation and negotiation skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Majority of work is performed in a manufacturing environment with noise levels within safety limits and acceptable lighting and temperature conditions.
