Job Title: Merchandise Planner
Overview: The Merchandise Planner at State and Liberty is responsible for maximizing sales through the development and execution of effective merchandise plans that align with company objectives for sales, turn, and margin. This role offers the opportunity to drive the financial success of the business by meeting sales goals, maintaining healthy inventory levels, and providing strategic insights to key stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute top-down and bottom-up merchandise financial plans to support company goals, including pre-season planning and in-season open-to-buy management.
- Conduct style-level and color-level planning based on current forecasts and historic trends.
- Monitor and evaluate sales of current styles weekly, including trends and abnormalities.
- Analyze seasonal insights to inform future buy plans and support buying with attribute and analysis for new assortments.
- Establish and maintain style count plans by channel and store cluster, supporting the buying and production teams with necessary system views.
- Conduct attribute planning and summarize performance versus plan at class and attribute levels, proposing action points as needed.
- Collaborate with buying and allocation teams toward common merchandise area goals.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Execute key Monday morning reporting for cross-functional analysis.
- Provide analysis on pricing/promotional tests and their impacts.
- Support the Merchandise Planning team throughout the monthly Business Review process.
- Develop forward-looking operating models and frameworks to achieve financial and merchandise objectives.
- Manage inventory flow and assortment architecture.
- Conduct seasonal hindsight analysis and reforecasting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support ad hoc projects as needed

- 3+ years of experience in a Planning or Allocation Analysis role.
- Merchandise planning, inventory management, buying, or finance experience in a retail environment.
- Strong statistical analysis skills.
- Excellent organizational, prioritizing, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven track record of analyzing and delivering financial results.
- Ability to work efficiently with complex Excel documents.
