Application Engineer-Electronics and Mechatronics
JOB SCOPE
Support the business acquisition process by bridging between the clients and the core engineering centers in order to identify new business opportunities and define the best technical and economic solutions to meet customer expectations. Ensure the technical interface between the customer, the project team, the plants and the associated services, in the management of the project.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluates proposed engineering changes for impact and feasibility, on the product and process prior to implementation.
Develops program plans, master timing plans and open issues lists.
Identifies risks, analyze, determine solutions, and counteract possibly together with functional managers or engineering management.
Handles customer complaints including receipt of complaints and follow up on corrective actions.
Supports the sales team in visiting the clients and the engineering centers regularly, promoting the company's know-how, adapting existing products and technologies, or developing a proposal corresponding to the needs/specifications of the customers (price, deadlines, functional and technical specifications). Participates in customer meetings and promote company technical capabilities to customers to win new businesses (gates 0 of DURA APQP).
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS
May coach and mentor, as well as develop cross functional teams focusses on a project or program.
- Identifies the most suitable engineering center to execute the project.
- Coordinates technical pre-studies and estimates including budget, price, planning, quality to validate the feasibility of the offer and its profitability.
- Receives and verifies customer technical descriptions.
- Validates the matrix of commitment to the customers specifications established by the engineering.
- Prepares the functional user acceptance (collection of blocking points, corrections, technical validations) and formalizes the engineering contract.
- May support the launch of the project execution phase.
- Manages projects under development to ensure that plans and deadlines are met while following the customer quality approach.
- May schedule and lead regularly CFT meetings to review time-schedules, LOPs, program budgets and status reports according to DURA APQP (Gates 1 to 4).
- Ensures technological and competitive intelligence to target potential new markets.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics
Minimum of 5 years experience in an automotive environment
Product development experience (not process development)
Ability to interface with customers to define system specifications
