A global automotive parts manufacturing company based in the Troy, OH area (northern Dayton region) is now looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join their testing and validation department. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years’ experience in product development and testing, and specific familiarity with Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and the ability to interface effectively with customers and suppliers. This is a full-time, direct hire position.
Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities Include:
- Support the design and development of automotive metal components, particularly frame components, chassis, braking systems, etc.; follow products from initial concept to mass production
- Product testing and validation data analysis
- Ensure that products in development are meeting customer, industry, and governmental standards
- Analysis of testing and production processes and implement new changes / improvements
- Create records of design changes and project updates for internal and customer use
- Interface with customers regarding design reviews, potential changes, approval, and manufacturing feasibility
- Participate in meetings regarding project status with both internal departments and outside customers
- Other duties as assigned
Mechanical Engineer Requirements Include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field preferred
- Minimum 1-3 years' experience (including internships, co-ops, etc.) in Design, Product, or Release Engineering preferred
- Familiarity with FEA programs (Hypermesh, Abaqus, etc.) is strongly preferred
- Ability to read, interpret, and improve engineering drawings and schematics
- Strong communication and collaboration ability in a multicultural environment
- Good problem-solving, time management, and multitasking skills
- While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, lift in excess of 25 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
