Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze standards activities impacting the organization’s portfolio of products and processes.
- Provide technical guidance to internal teams (engineering, sales and product management) for product planning, development and compliance.
- Act as a subject matter expert on codes, standards, and regulations across national and local agencies (DOE, EPA, NRCan, ECCC, CEC, CARB, and others).
- Participate and engage in various trade associations and NGOs (ASHRAE, ASME, AHRI, AMCA, CSA, CEE, HRAI, ICC, UL, and others) committees and working groups relevant to a portfolio of HVAC products.
- Advocate for positions in support of the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Draft positions and comments with stakeholders on rulemaking proposals.
- Represent the organization in industry conferences, expositions, forums, or symposiums.
- Build strong relationships across the industry.
- Identify opportunities within the industry to promote the organization’s brand.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
- Working knowledge and experience with HVAC products is required.
- Experience with third-party test agencies such as Intertek, CSA, or UL is highly preferred.
- 1-5 years of experience with new product development methodologies within a regulated environment is preferred.
- Commitment to support the success of organizations’ objectives and goals.
- Passion to keep current on HVAC trends and curiosity to learn new approaches and technologies.
- Motivation to think critically and problem solve complex issues.
- Discernment with confidential information.
- Ability to travel occasionally required (about 15% of time).
