The Packaging Engineer II will oversee the development and coordination of packaging solutions for new products, cost reduction initiatives, and supply chain efficiency within the Water Heater Division. This role involves working with development teams to design packaging for transportation, conducting periodic reviews, and identifying opportunities to improve product delivery and packaging effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain packaging test protocols (PTP) aligned with product distribution models and Total Supply Chain (TSC) plans.
- Guide teams in designing products for TSC loads and handling, and explore cost-effective delivery options.
- Coordinate packaging design, create prototypes, and test designs with suppliers, consultants, and internal resources.
- Manage a portfolio of packaging projects and success metrics for timely and effective packaging solutions.
- Address and resolve significant packaging issues, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions.
- Assess cost reduction and sustainability opportunities through material selection, design improvements, and efficiency enhancements.
- Conduct cross-functional reviews to evaluate product delivery, set special assignment teams, and establish yearly objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science or Mechanical Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in packaging design and application.
- Comprehensive knowledge of packaging materials, applications, and equipment.
- Familiarity with ASTM, ISTA, ISO, and other packaging standards.
- Experience developing packaging test protocols for a total supply chain.
- Support for production start-ups and equipment trials related to new packaging designs.
- Proficiency in ArtiosCad, SolidWorks, or similar solid modeling software.
