Job Description: Prepress/Graphics Manager
Position Overview: The Graphics Manager is responsible for developing processes and procedures while managing the design and production of visual communications, including books, labels, and packaging. This role requires a blend of creativity and organizational skills to ensure high-quality visual content and effective team management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of new team members. Manage daily department workflows and ensure effective performance evaluations, handling disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy.
- Project Management: Coordinate and prioritize multiple projects, tracking their progress, costs, and deadlines. Ensure all projects meet quality standards and are delivered within the specified budget and timeframe.
- Design Oversight: Guide graphic designers in creating layouts and preparing designs for production. Review and approve sample and finished layouts, ensuring all materials meet visual and quality standards.
- Client and Vendor Coordination: Act as a liaison with clients to resolve any issues related to artwork and files. Manage relationships with external vendors, such as printers, to ensure timely and high-quality production outputs.
- Quality Assurance: Provide press proofs for critical jobs, attend meetings to offer insights, and review the final products before release. Ensure the platemaking process delivers high-quality products promptly.
- Operational Efficiency: Collaborate with other departments to maximize production efficiency and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Required Skills and Abilities:

- Proficient in Mac OS and software such as QuarkXPress and Adobe Creative Suite.

- Competence in basic mathematical functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience, typically 7-10 years in a similar role.
- Experience in supervisory roles within a graphics or production environment is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
- Occasional need to stand, walk, and lift or carry up to 25 pounds.
- Must have good vision, including color vision and depth perception.
