The YWCA Minneapolis is looking for a Vice President of Racial Justice and Public Policy (RJPP) to oversee the RJPP programs and services.
The VP of RJPP will provide leadership and strategy for Race Equity and Public Policy programs (internal and external) in support of YWCA Minneapolis' overall mission to eliminate racism, empower women and girls, and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. This position will report to the CEO/President.
Responsibilities
Vision and Strategy
- Develop and implement annual business plan for RJPP events, Race Equity and Consulting, Podcasts, workshops and facilitator training.
- Evaluate new programming ideas for opportunities to develop and offer new products and services.
- Develop and implement sales strategies for consulting, sponsorship and RJPP event attendance.
- Ensure development and achievement of RJPP departmental budget. Report on financial and sales activity and recommend updates and changes as needed.
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of programming in the Racial Justice industry through research, analysis, networking and outside educational programs.
- Develop, implement and evaluate annual legislative and policy agenda, including advocacy plans.
- Provide financial modeling for new or changing programs.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for Senior Leadership, Board and Finance and Investment Committee.
- Assist Organizational Advancement team with department and program related grant reports and applications to expand and strengthen the funding base.
- Participate in local and national DEI and Public Policy advocacy groups.
Programming
- Develop, document and maintain program curriculum ensuring alignment with YWCA Minneapolis mission, vision and goals.
- Ensure high quality programs and services.
- Partner with Marketing and Communications team to develop program marketing strategies, activities and materials.
- Establish external community and corporate partnerships that will enhance operations and brand awareness related to YWCA Minneapolis' mission and goals
- Act as an internal resource to the organization related to diversity, inclusion, race, equity, and public policy issues.
Leadership and Supervision
- Coach, mentor, supervise, develop and provide leadership for Race Equity and Public Policy staff
- Facilitate development activities that align with operational and strategic plans and YWCA Minneapolis mission and values.
- Oversee design and structure of the department to effectively accomplish the departmental goals and objectives.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years' experience in program management.
- Minimum 7 years in grassroots advocacy and lobbying/government relations.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate the direction of Racial Justice and the intersection of racial justice and public policy in relation to YWCA Minneapolis' mission, strategy and goals.
- Ability to take initiative and effectively address challenges and identify future opportunities.
- Strong knowledge in various aspects of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, racial justice and public policy.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to coach and empower staff and provide constructive feedback effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Strong business acumen.
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of cultures, backgrounds and perspectives. Leverages differences and practices inclusion.

Preferred:
- Experience and/or education in leadership development or reflective leadership
- Marketing or sales experience.
- Experience leading in the non-profit or public sector.
