AEGIS Insurance Services, Inc. (“AEGIS”) has an immediate opening for a General Adjuster responsible for managing and adjusting first party property claims of a moderate level of complexity arising under All Risk and Builders Risk coverages for policies of AEGIS Members and/or Policyholders as directed by Claims management. Investigate and adjust assigned claims with a high level of integrity, quality, and technical expertise while ensuring prompt and equitable settlements of claims within the parameters of the Company’s policies and guidelines.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in insurance, the energy industry or with large commercial property insurance claims
- Experience with claims adjustment and litigation procedures related to All Risk, Builders Risk, Business Interruption, Extra Expense, Expediting Expense, and/or additional coverages desired
- Experience with renewable energy related claims a plus
- Undergraduate degree; degree in an engineering discipline a plus
- Property Adjuster's License desired
- Insurance designations a plus
- Applied knowledge of the elements of a property claim and related policy coverages
- Working knowledge of the national and international insurance markets, as well, independent adjusting firms, consulting engineers, forensic accounting firms and counsel that specialize in energy claims
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Specifically Word and Excel
- Travel required (approximately 25%)

Essential Job Functions:
Management of Assigned Claims
- Achieve timely and proper coverage verification through analysis and appropriate communication of AEGIS’ coverage positions on assigned claims within the assigned delegated authority
- Provide recommendations to Claims management on the handling of complex losses and implement actions directed by Claims management
- Achieve timely, accurate, and factual investigation of liability and damages
- Achieve timely and accurate evaluation of liability and damages through reports from independent adjusters
- Conduct or participate in on-site field investigations and inspections, in conjunction with insured’s personnel when appropriate
- Ensure equitable claim settlements for AEGIS and its Members and or Policyholders
File Management Documentation
- Achieve timely, appropriate and quality file documentation and reporting to Claims management and reinsurers, as necessary
- Consult with Claims management in the evaluation and management of assigned claims/losses as required by the Case Management Matrix
Reserve and Expense Management
- Establish timely and accurate reserves that reflect AEGIS’ quota share participation and ultimate probable cost/exposure
- Achieve accurate loss reserves on a timely basis based on industry standards with regard to labor rates and replacement costs
- Effectively manage and control loss adjustment expenses through disciplined vendor management and adherence to Company guidelines on budgeting costs
- Ensure that all financial transactions (e.g. reserves, settlements and payments) for assigned claims are within the designated level of authority, pursuant to the Case Management Matrix
Relationship Management
- Foster and maintain a professional relationship with AEGIS Members and/or Policyholders throughout the claims adjustment process which may include communicating on coverage disputes and/or denials of coverage
- Work closely with the Underwriting and Loss Control divisions on claim matters
- Network with industry experts and stay current with industry changes in technology and federal, state, or local regulations which could impact first party property claims

We expect to pay a starting salary between $60,000 and $96,000. An applicant’s placement within this range is based on their individual qualifications and professional experience.
