Summary:
We're partnered with a growing diagnostics biotech based out of San Mateo County that seeking a Senior Scientist of Targeted Mass Spectrometry to lead and execute targeted mass spectrometry assay development working with a team of analytical scientists, engineers, data scientists, researchers, and more as they develop products with the aim of early detection of cancer through liquid biopsy samples. The organization is using proteomics with innovative sequencing technology to disrupt the industry.
Description:
- Plan, conduct, and provide analysis of experiments, collaborating with the broad, multi-disciplinary team, evaluating data analysis and overall results with cross-functional groups
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LC/MS instrumentation, liquid handling automation, and other lab instruments
- Optimize high-throughput proteomics and LC/MS methods
- Document analysis and investigations - communicating across cross functional groups
- Translate scientific results into high quality documentation and presentations
Requirements & Preferred Skills:
- PhD in Chemistry or a related discipline with at least 8 years of industry experience across mass spectrometry - relevant postdoc experience can also be considered
- Hands-on expertise with targeted LC/MS instruments such as QQQ (SCIEX), Agilent, and Thermo - ideally designing and conducting large scale targeted proteomics projects
- Experienced in targeted proteomics data analysis (using DIANN, MSFragger, Proteome Discoverer, Spectronaut, Byonics) and use of applications on HRMS systems (Bruker timsTOF, Thermo Orbitrap Astral, Sciex 7600 ZENO-TOF)
- Ability to independently strategize on developing methods and lead cross functional groups to meet deadlines
- History of working independently, within small team settings - with strong communication/presentation skills
