Role: Technical Director

Job Description: My Client is seeking a highly skilled Technical Director to join their dynamic Media Operations Team. As the Technical Director, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the technical aspects during shows, ensuring smooth and efficient workflows while maintaining high standards of quality and reliability
Responsibilities:
Directing and Technical Directing:
- Take charge of directing and technical directing duties, utilizing live switchers and virtual platforms to control the flow of the production
- Coordinate camera shots, transitions, and visual elements to ensure a seamless and engaging viewer experience
Program Switchers:
- Operate program switchers to manage multiple video sources and switch between them in real-time during live broadcasts or recordings
- Ensure smooth transitions between different segments of the program, maintaining continuity and visual appeal
Ensuring Technical Quality:
- Hold responsibility for the technical quality of the signal being recorded or broadcasted
- Monitor video and audio feeds closely to detect and address any technical issues promptly
- Work closely with the production team to troubleshoot problems and optimize the technical setup for optimal performance
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely in communication with engineers to confirm feeds and routes are correct
- Work closely in communication with producers to gather all show assets and version updates to build out the show
- Communicate clearly and efficiently with the team to ensure everyone is aligned and aware of their roles and responsibilities
Problem-solving and Decision-making:
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills to address technical challenges quickly and effectively during live productions
- Make timely decisions to adapt to changing circumstances and maintain the quality and integrity of the production
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on the latest technological advancements and industry trends related to live production and broadcasting
- Strive for continuous improvement in technical skills and knowledge to enhance the quality and efficiency of productions
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Lucid Charts and production software like Streamyard, Vmix and Live Producer.
- Working knowledge of Evertz Dreamcatcher, GV switcher, Ross Expression, Grass Valley Karrera
- Understanding of how to use ShoFlo and partner documentation for run of show
- Understanding of how to use VPN to mount various drives to save, load, and update assets (ex: Chester, General file Share, Switcher show files, Switcher GFX)
- Knowledge and understanding of both the 35 and 25 button switchers
- Ability and understanding of how to direct and cut a show simultaneously
- Understanding of how GFX and videos with alpha layers work in conjunction with other sources
- Basic editing capabilities (ex: Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects)
- Basic knowledge of how all other broadcast positions work (i.e., camera control, video playback, expression gfx, streaming, and audio)
- Ability to manage assets, updated assets, and version updates.
