Cambium is seeking a Fabrication & Test Technician – Composite Materials to join our growing team in El Segundo, CA. THE ROLE
Cambium is seeking a Fabrication & Test Technician – Composite Materials to join our composite materials team. You’ll work closely with engineers to fabricate composite test coupons for mechanical testing and parts for prototyping. This will be a hands-on role and you will be involved in the entire process. We will provide training and mentorship every step of the way. As Cambium experiences rapid growth, the responsibilities of this role are expected to evolve.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Follow written instructions, including test plans, standard operating procedures, and specifications, to fabricate composite test panels, coupons, and parts. Learn the fundamentals of composite methods such as hand layup, resin transfer molding, filament winding, etc. with strong attention to detail.
● Operate composite curing equipment such as ovens, autoclaves, presses, and kilns
● Cut and machine test coupon edges precisely using equipment such as a tile saw, surface grinder, and rotary tool
● Bond composite tabs for testing using paste and film adhesives
● Learn how to prepare samples for analytical testing, such as DSC, DMA, TGA, and optical microscope.
● Follow all safety protocols and contribute to our culture of safety
● Participate in a wide range of R&D problem-solving activities with an open mind and desire to learn
● Create and contribute to the product demonstration and engineering teams in a manner consistent with Cambium’s mission and values and the growth of Cambium’s business
KEY REQUIREMENTS
● High school diploma or equivalency certificate
● 3-5+ years experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment, preferably with composites
● Have a strong desire to learn and be willing to work in a hands-on role
● Detail oriented and patient working style
● Comfortable operating heavy machinery
● Ability to complete complex tasks on time
● Due to the nature of the work, you must have US citizenship
● Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Some general experience with fiber-reinforced organic polymer composites
● Machine shop experience

Salary: $24 - $34 /hr ($50,000 - $70,000 /year equivalent)
