Job Description
We are looking to hire a Photonics Test Engineer to conduct device and system level testing of silicon photonic integrated circuits for datacom and LiDAR applications. In this position, the successful applicant will work closely with photonics and systems teams to collect optical and electronic data from devices, develop laboratory test capabilities, and make recommendations on future component and circuit design. The ideal candidate has experience in fiber optics and photonics. Key Responsibilities
· Perform optical and electrical tests on silicon photonic devices
· Process data and provide insight into best performing devices for purpose of developing next generation of silicon photonic devices. Example devices are couplers, phase shifters, crossings, resonators, modulators, variable optical attenuators, photodetectors, switches , among other silicon photonic devices
· Perform EE, EO, OE high-speed response testing for silicon photonic devices
· Write and modify scripts to perform automated experiments
· Communicating with vendors for custom requests
· Operating complex test setups to collect optical/electrical data
· Debugging issues in experimental setups and developing new experimental capabilities
· Managing inventory of wafers, components, and test equipment
· Working with design team to verify experimental results with simulation
Qualifications
· B.S. or M.S. in engineering, physics, or a related discipline
· 0-3 years related industry experience
· Lab experience in optics and photonics lab
· Confidence in performing tasks that require fine motor skills
· Knowledge of basic fiber optics and/or silicon photonics
· Programming experience with Matlab, Python, C/C++, or other programming language
· Experience with hardware development, design, and assembly
· Great written and verbal communication skills
· Understanding of lasers and laser characterization is a plus
