Job responsibilities
1. Manage and coordinate the work of the Peptide research department; Monitor quality of work
2. Team leadership -- Develop clear goals; Motivate and guide the team; Recruit and provide training to new staff
3. Design efficacious peptides and solve synthesis issues with peptides and peptide-related compounds
4. Coordinate peptide-related work with medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry, and computational chemistry representatives at ChemPartner sites worldwide
6. Issue reports and recommendations based on research results
7. Lead staff to develop new chemical technologies and methods for peptide drug research
8. Share research results authoring scientific publications, reports, and presenting at conferences
9. Collaborate with diverse stakeholders –
- Compound Management and Analytical: Verify structural information from analytical data and chemical information for compound registration
- Biologics: For support in protein/peptide expression as necessary for chemical modification
- Chemistry: As needed in design of small molecules for chimeric molecules of interest
- Biology: Assess in vitro and in vivo assay data in support of peptide research projects
- Client principal investigators and other business contacts
10. Work closely with Business Development to engage new, high value clients, resulting in immediate or future business
Job requirements
1. Record of achievement in drug discovery by published peer-reviewed journals, patent applications and/or IND-filings
2. Management competence – Strategic planning; Preparing and evaluating budgets; Conflict management and team building
3. Scientific problem-solving ability – Use scientific principles, rules and methods to solve problems; Develop novel and creative solutions; Apply reasoning and active learning to determine strengths and weaknesses of various approaches to problems, leading to successful solutions
4. Ability to judge and make strategic decisions – Consider the relative costs and benefits of potential strategies and operations and choose the most appropriate solution for the company
5. Active learning - Understanding the role of new information in current and future problem-solving, and in decision-making
6. Communication skills – Strong capability to communicate information and ideas in verbal and written form; English fluency is required

Education background
PhD in Peptide chemistry or industry pharmaceutical chemistry, with at least 10 years working experience
